Can You Figure Out This Riddle??
Back in the time of Oedipus, the Great Sphinx of Giza used to ask riddles when ever somebody passed by. If the person answered correctly well, they got to live. But if they didn't answer correctly, well, SPLAT!!! Your dead...So you better answer correctly!!
I. Once when Oedipus was walking by a Sphinx, he heard the Sphinx talk and Oedipus thought he was out of his mind, but he wasn't. So he was basically like "are you talking to me?" So Oedipus listened as the Sphinx asked him the riddle: "In every window and every door crack, round and round the house and never a crack. What am I?"So Oedipus had to think for a min. because well you know. If he got it wrong he was dead. Finally Oedipus answered " the wind" and the Sphinx was so amazed at Oedipus and so surprised that someone finally got his riddle right. So the Sphinx let Oedipus live.

What Was the Last Restoration on the Sphinx of Giza
The answer to that question is in 1996. (hey look... that's two years before I was born:) Although the Egyptian Ministry of Culture announced that on March 14, 2006 the famous monment would undergo restoration, and that the work would be focused on the neck and the chest of the statue.
Oh Where, Oh Where... are the "Popular" Sphinx and How Big Is It?
Well...let me just tell you that they are HUGE!!Considering that the Great Spinx of Giza located by the causeway of the pyramid of Khafra and it is 66ft high and 172ft long. it was carved from a knoll of a rock left behind after quarrying. Even though the face probably represented it has been argued that it may represent his predecessor- Djedefra.
What Is the Language and Can You Guess What "Sphinx" Means??
To tell you the truth, the word Sphinx means strangler, (what... are they going to strangle someone or something??) and it is from the language of Ancient Greek. it has also been suggested that the origin of the word may have been from the Egyptian phrase "shesep ankh" (the living image) which was occasionally applied to Sphinx.

Can You Guess Why the Sphinx Were Important??
That is a good thing to know if you don't know that much about the Sphinx. You see, Egyptian Sphinx were supposed to guard the tomb of a Pharaoh or a King. Egyptian Sphinx are depicted in the act of trampling on foreign enemies. Just like on on the Sphinx in Egypt guard the tomb of King Tut. But a lot of people must of really believed that the Sphinx could protect the Pharaoh or King, because if they didn't, then why in God's green earth did the build them?? So... would you want a Sphinx guarding your tomb??
See... the Sphinx "guards" the tomb!
What Does a Sphinx Represent??
The Sphinx represents a mythical creature with a body of a lion and a head of a man. Wouldn't you like to have your head on a Sphinx? I totally would!! Can you guess what the head of the Sphinx wore? Well, if you guessed that they wore a head cloth, then that means you're right!! Even though the head of the Sphinx usually represented a Pharaoh or a king, sometimes it represented a hawk or even a ram. So I guess that means if you were not a Pharaoh or a King or someone important, that you wont get your head on a Sphinx. So I guess I wouldn't keep your hopes up too high. But then again you can always dream right?
